Mom’s Red Sauce

Instructions

  1. 1) brown beef in a large pot and rinse, return to pot and reduce to low heat
  2. 2) While beef is browning, in a separate pan sautรฉ green onions and garlic in 1 tsp of oil until soft and add to beef
  3. 3) In the same pan you cooked the garlic, add the remaining oil and sautรฉ the onions, bell peppers until soft
  4. 4) Add pepper/onion mix to a food processor or blender along with the tomatoes and process until smooth
  5. 5) Add blended items as well as prepared sauces, chili, lemon juice and oregano and increase the heat to bring to a slow simmer
  6. 6) Allow to simmer for at least an hour to allow flavors to develop
  7. 7) Check seasoning and add salt/pepper to taste
  8. 8) Serve with pasta of choice and garnish with as much Parmesan as you want!

Note

This sauce freezes very well, divide into containers and use up in 6 months
